It is a dream of every portrait artist to do a presidential portrait one day. This is the closest I’ve ever come to the real thing. This painting was done small scale at a 24 x 30 inch size and then blown up to full scale in post production. Selina Meyer, played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus comes to her presidential portrait unveiling in the 7th episode of Season 6 of VEEP and is dismayed to see that the portrait is not exactly as she had hoped. With luck that would not be the effect of a portrait commission of mine for an actual person instead of a story character! I had a lot of fun with this project though, met some incredibly talented people and had the satisfaction of this piece actually being used in the production. This painting was completed in late May.
