Kate Sammons’s paintings present people and objects in a high-definition state of realism to define a point between the fleeting and the timeless, the personal and the universal. Proud to be opening a new avenue of art instruction in Los Angeles, Kate brings a fresh energy and outlook to the community by sharing a highly practiced and organized method of art training.
Kate has worked with top names in representational art education. She is a graduate of The Waichulis Studio of Anthony Waichulis and has studied alla-prima figure and portrait painting at the Studio Incamminati of Nelson Shanks in Philadelphia and classical drawing at the Angel Academy of Art in Florence, Italy. She is also a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Her diverse artistic experience has led her to receive national and international distinction for her work. Her piece “Self Portrait with Hermes” is currently showing at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery’s Outwin Boochever Exhibition. She is an award -winning member of the Portrait Society of America, a past participant in the Art Renewal Center’s International Salon exhibitions, and a multiple award winner of Artist’s Magazine’s competitions. Her work has been featured in American Artist and International Artist as well as the book Strokes of Genius: the Best of Drawing.
