For years, people have been saying realist art is coming back.  Judging from its growing visibility and the mushrooming of ateliers nationwide, it’s more accurate to say it’s here.  Surely, as panelist Michael Zakian has remarked elsewhere, it’s time to move beyond the simplistic notion that “if it’s realism, it’s good.”  Together four knowledgeable insiders will look squarely at what’s happening in this field and make intriguing predictions about what lies ahead.

Context of this event

The Los Angeles Art Show is set to assume a new format this month (January 18-22).  Instead of one giant fair, the Los Angeles Convention Center will now host two complementary fairs at the same time: the Los Angeles Fine Art Show: Historic and Traditional (HAT), and the L.A. Art Show: Modern and Contemporary (MAC).  In addition, the International Fine Print Dealers Association Print Fair will return to bridge its two neighbors.
